What is PASE?

The Partnership for After School Education (PASE) is a child-focused organization that promotes and supports quality afterschool programs, particularly those serving young people from underserved communities.

For families everywhere, afterschool is not optional. Out-of-school time learning is not a luxury. Whether providing safe space while a parent works, enabling academic success through activities linked to school-day learning, or developing critical 21st century skills through the arts, sports, and more, afterschool programs are an essential part of the education equation:

PASE is here to ensure that the afterschool part of that equation is of high quality and is available to all youth.

What does PASE do?

PASE accomplishes its mission by building the capacity of individual afterschool staff, youth-serving organizations, and the field as a whole, all with the goal of increasing the availability of quality services to youth in out of school time.

The Partnership for After School Education (PASE):

  • leads a network of individuals and organizations committed to afterschool excellence
  • is a recognized leader and expert in the field of afterschool education
  • provides training and technical assistance to its network and beyond
  • consults with organizations to build their capacity and sustainability
  • convenes afterschool leaders and others from allied professions
  • acts as a laboratory for innovative afterschool programs and practices
  • recognizes outstanding afterschool staff
  • advocates for the afterschool field

What is PASE’s strategic vision?

Through 2009, PASE will continue to play a leadership role in the following areas:

  • establishing an understanding of and appreciation for the afterschool field among key external stakeholders;
  • building a high level of competence and professionalism in practitioners in the field of afterschool education; and
  • preparing afterschool program staff with the best quality training possible so that they can deliver high quality programs to children and youth.
