Nets Explorers Program

With funding from the Nets and the Barclays/Nets Alliance, PASE has launched Nets Explorers – a program designed to provide 4th-6th graders, attending Brooklyn-based afterschool programs, with experiential learning that explore different Brooklyn neighborhoods and expose them to the rich assets in these areas. The program draws from the strength of Brooklyn’s diversity as well as afterschool programs’ unique abilities to give young people access to creative programs that teach skills that are essential for success including critical thinking, technology literacy, ability to collaborate and work in teams, creativity, communication, and more!
PASE received 22 applications from afterschool programs representing various neighborhoods around Brooklyn. Six programs were selected to participate. We congratulate the following programs on being selected:
- Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services Inc. at PS 106 (Bushwick)
- Flatbush Development Corp (Flatbush)
- Fort Greene Soccer Club, Inc. (Fort Greene)
- Marks Jewish Community House (Bensonhurst)
- Millennium Development at PS 115 (Canarsie)
- Sunset Bay Community Services-Warren Street Center (Gowanus)
Through Nets Explorers, these programs will receive A Nets Explorers Curriculum Guidebook, developed by PASE and aligned with Common Core Standards; Training and technical assistance to support successful implementation of the program; a stipend of $500 to help cover some costs of program implementation; an opportunity to showcase young people's successes at The Nets Explorers Expo -- a Brooklyn-wide culminating event that will bring together all selected agencies; and tools to help with evaluation of the program.
