Youth-led Community Service

YouthConnect! Advocates
YouthConnect!

PASE and its network of afterschool program have long supported the involvement of young people in their communities. Building on this history, and in response to the needs of young people to express their views following the events of September 11, 2001, PASE created YouthConnect!, a program that helps youth to strengthen their communities through collaborative service and advocacy projects.   From 2001 to 2003, over 75 youth agencies participated in YouthConnect!, interviewing their communities about the economic and political repercussions of 9/11, receiving training to develop community service components in their own programs, and creating Power point presentations of their community service projects.
