Opportunities for All - Funding Opportunities for Afterschool Organizations
“Opportunities for All” bulletins are periodic announcements of public funding
opportunities relevant to youth-serving organizations in New York City.
21st Century Community Learning Centers RFP Released.
According to the New York State Education Department, the RFP (request for proposals) for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) funding will be posted on the department’s web site and published in the State Register on January 23, 2008. To download the RFP on January 23, please visit www.emsc.nysed.gov and click on “funding opportunities.” Proposals in response to the RFP must be postmarked by March 17, 2008.
According to the 21st CCLC State Coordinator’s State of the Union address at The After School Experience (TASE) conference in Tarrytown, NY, the length of the 4th round 21st CCLC grant will be five years beginning July 2008. As in the past, LEA's, BOCES, Charter Schools, CBO's, Faith-Based organizations, Higher Education, For-Profit and Municipalities are encouraged to apply. Eligibility and competitive priorities (e.g. SINI schools, Middle and High Schools) are the same as in the past competitions (See Round 3 RFP for reference ).
The maximum grant amount is projected to be $900,000.

Ongoing Grants
Many grant opportunities can be found through the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Website.
The Women's Sports Foundation grant programs provide girls and women with
educational materials, internships and scholarships, research on issues
related
to women in sports, leadership development and also opportunities to
participate
in sports and fitness.
The Thomas C. Ackerman Foundation attempts to focus its emphasis on grant-making in four areas: education, culture, health and human services, and community development.
Nike's Bowerman Track Renovation Program provides matching cash grants of up to $50,000 to community-based, youth-oriented organizations that seek to refurbish or construct running tracks.
The Victor Clark Youth Incentive Program offers grants of up to $1,000 to afterschool nonprofits, specifically to create or maintain amateur youth radio programs.
The Common Counsel Foundation is a consortium of family foundations and individual donors committed to funding economic, environmental, and social justice initiatives.
The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office for Victims of Crime will provide up to $5,000 in funding to grassroots community and faith-based victim-service organizations and coalitions to improve outreach and services to crime victims through support of program development, networking, coalition building, and service delivery.
The Faith and Community-Based Mini-Grant Program offers up to 20 awards of $15,000 to faith-based or community organizations with established crime victim assistance efforts to assist underserved victims of violent crime living in Weed and Seed communities and other high-crime areas.
Discretionary grants for the Family Violence Prevention and Services Program focuses on youth identified within the Domestic Violence and the Runaway and Homeless Youth communities as individuals that may be responsive to a collaborative set of services or interventions.
The Finish Line Youth Foundation provides funding and assistance for education, sports and exercise.
The Hasbro Children's Foundation provides grants for model community programs range from $500 to $35,000. The largest grants are awarded to programs that are national in potential impact and scope.
The Colin Higgins Foundation supports organizations that focus on responding to the HIV/AIDS pandemic by supporting HIV prevention.
The Mockingbird Foundation, Inc. offers grants to schools and nonprofit organizations in the area of music education.
The RadioShack Neighborhood Answers Grant Program provides support to help families protect their children from abduction, violence and abuse through support of projects conducted by local not-for-profit organizations.
The Yale School of Management, The Goldman Sachs Foundation, and the Pew Charitable Trusts have joined together to support programs that start or expand successful profit-making ventures with youth.
